Viewsat Programming Instructions

It is suggested that you read through all of the steps once and then begin to work on your receiver.

First you will need the loader software, you can get this from http://www.thefileshop.com (registration required) or http://www.dsstester.com/details.php?file=603

If you are using thefileshop you will have to register for this site by clicking on register.  It will ask you to provide and confirm your email, this only takes a few minutes to complete.  After you are registered and logged in you will be able to download the software by clicking on the viewsat sub forum.

The software is called loader2, click on it and save it to your desktop.

The loader2 software is compressed in .zip format  (as are most internet files), so you will have to uncompress it to use it.  If you do not have unzipping software you can download it free from www.rarlab.com

Unzip the software to a folder called viewsat on your desktop, this will make future programming easier.

Next, you will need to download the latest software for your model.  Save this software to the viewsat folder you made on your desktop.  The software will always have the letter P,X or U in it, and the date in the following format YYMMDD (ie 061213 for 2006 December 13) ONLY LOAD THE SOFTWARE FOR YOUR RECEIVER.

P = Platinum and Platinum Lite

X = Extreme

U = Ultra

The software for the receiver can be downloaded from http://www.thefileshop.com  http://www.curious-contraptions.com http://www.dssftp.com/files and http://www.dsstester.com (this software also may have to be unzipped).  Viewsat firmware files have .pgm extensions ie 061213U.pgm

Next, plus your receiver into an electrical outlet.  But put the power switch at the back to the off position.  Also, plug in the serial cable included into the receiver and the other end into your computer.

Open the loader2 software, it should look like this.

Click on the Open Files and select the file your downloaded from before, ie 061213U.pgm

Now click on the PC - > STB button and flip the switch on the back of your receiver to the on position.  If you did everything right it should start transferring the file.

When it reached 100% do not unplug it yet, your receiver will say Inst on the front and then it will say END.  Only unplug it once it says END.

That's it, your viewsat is updated.  Next you will have to setup your antennas and scan your channels, instructions for that are below.

Alternate Instructions for VIEWSAT ULTRA only.

Instead of using the loader2 software and a serial cable to load your receiver you can use a USB disk drive.  Download the latest file as per the instructions above and save it to your USB drive instead of your desktop.  Make sure you have the .pgm file on your drive.

Turn the power switch on the back of the ultra off and plug in your USB drive.  Flip the switch on and turn on your receiver.  Press menu, receiver upgrade and then USB.  Select the file from your drive and your receiver will upgrade.  That's it.

We do not suggest nor do we condone the use of any software designed to decrypt encrypted channels.  All of these instructions are intended to be used for FTA purposes only and for official software releases.  We do not condone piracy and loading such software onto your receiver will void most manufacturers warranties.

Pansat 2700A (Clone) programming instructions.

The software is called GTRom Loader v3.35 find it, click on it and save it to your desktop.

The GTRom Loader software is compressed in .zip format  (as are most internet files), so you will have to uncompress it to use it.  If you do not have unzipping software you can download it free from www.rarlabs.com

Unzip the software to a folder called pansat on your desktop, this will make future programming easier.

The software for the receiver can be downloaded from a number of sites like http://www.thefileshop.com http://www.curious-contraptions.com http://www.dssftp.com/files and http://www.dsstester.com .. save the software to your pansat folder.

Make sure the software you download is CLONE SAFE and is for your receiver (ie. 2700, 3000, 3500 etc).  Any files by Vortex are usually ok for clones.  Pansat firmware files are in .bin format, if you have .zip file you will need to unzip it into your pansat folder.

Connect your receiver to your computer using the provided serial cable.  Make sure the receiver is plugged into an electrical outlet.

Open the GTrom software

Click on the BIN FILE button and select the bin file you downloaded.  Then click on the download button and wait for it to reach 100%.

That's it, your receiver it updated.

Viewsat channel scanning instructions.

Once your receiver has been updated with the latest firmware, hook it up to your satellite feed and to your TV.

You will need some information before starting.

First you need to know how many signals you have and where they are coming from.  For the purpose of this example I will assume you have two signals (AMC and Telstar 5) but it can be applied to up to four dishes and any other satellite signal you are receiver.

In the file above I have Telstar 5 hooked into PORT 1 of my DiseqcSwitch and AMC Hooked into PORT 2 of my Diseqc.  We now need to input this information into your viewsat receiver.

Power on your receiver and press MENU, then go to INSTALLATION (the default pin is 0000) then go to ANTENNA SETUP

The first line is the name of the satellite, here you will put in the first satellite you are using, in my example this is Telstar 5, so I will have to find that.

Once you found your satellite set your LNB type, in my case I will use standard since it is the most common (most satellites work on the standard setting)

Then you have to set which port this antenna is on.  In my example it's on port 1, so I go down to where it says DISEQC 1.0 and scroll to PORT 1.  You have to set this up according to your setup though.

Now if you have a Platinum, Lite or Xtreme press the F1 button on your remote to scan the channels.  This will take a few minutes.  If you have an ULTRA skip down to scanning instructions.

Repeat the above steps for all of your satellites.  In my example I would set the AMC satellite to PORT 2 and scan that.

That's all.

ULTRA INSTRUCTIONS

After you have setup all of your instructions, in the antenna setup, press exit and go down to blind scan.

in the blind scan menu, press F1 to move down to the satellite list.

Make sure there is a check next to all of the satellites you have setup (in my example I would check Telstar 5 and AMC)

Press Exit and click ok on the scan, this will take a few minutes.

That's all.
